Simply put, this is one great looking model. The pose initially seemed a bit odd, but it works really well and I like it. There’s an attention to detail that you simply don’t get in any of the other minis – which better be the case since these D&D Icons models are supposed to be limited edition.

Tomorrow, the Colossal Red Dragon is officially released. From what I’ve heard, it’s even better than the black. I think we can all agree that when it comes to canonical D&D monsters, the great wyrm red dragon is the monster to beat.

I’ve also heard of some people taking the dragon models and repainting them – which I’m sure looks even better than the out-of-the-box model. For those of you that are actually skilled with paint and models, you should have a field day with these.

In addition to the awesome model, you get the usual stat card and a really nice fold-out map and some details on a battle scenario if you’re interested in playing the D&D Miniatures game.

Despite a $30 MSRP, you can get the black from Amazon for $19 – which isn’t bad at all.

The gargantuan black dragon will make some appearances in our game sessions, but for the most part, it’s going to sit on a shelf and look menacingly over my room.
